Next Wednesday we're hosting a FULL MOON FEAST to raise funds for SOUP-IT-FORWARD as part of Liverpool Restaurant Week! Book your spot now! Email becky@squashliverpool.co.uk

Enjoy a delicious spring dinner on full moon night! Chefs Edlira Bunga and Sean Paul Reading are excited to share the fresh tastes of the season with you, with inspiration from our wonderful patron Andi Oliver! Vegetarian and vegan, organic & ethical produce, including salad leaves, herbs & rhubarb from our own community gardens, locally foraged delights plus Squash made sourdough & cream cheese.

MENU:
- Rhubarb fizz

- Springy nettle soup w/wild garlic oil & sourdough focaccia

- Gozleme filled flatbread w/chard, leeks & feta plus our cream cheese & green sauce dip
- Beetroot & walnut salad
- L8 seakale, spring leaves & edible flowers

- Coconut & lime cheesecake

- Fresh mint tea

We’ll be serenaded by the wonderful world fusion folk band, Kaloco & weather permitting we’ll enjoy a song or 2 around the garden fire...

By dining with us you’ll be raising funds for ‘Soup-it-Forward’, Squash’s initiative supporting neighbours in need of nourishment. Anyone can get a delicious free soup during cafe opening hours, funded through customers paying it forward & through fundraising events like these!

We’re really excited to be recruiting for a Shopkeeper for the Squash food shop! The shopkeeper is a key role in the Squash food team, responsible for the effective operation, promotion and development of our wholefood shop. We’re looking for a dedicated person to work with the whole team to continue to grow our successful community business within our exemplar neighbourhood food hub.

To find out more, come for a short guided tour and meet the team this Sunday the 14th, Wednesday the 17th or Saturday the 20th of April, at 11am.

Term: 1-year fixed term contract from May/June 2024

Gross Salary: £25,350 (£20,280 pro rata)

30 hours per week including Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Saturdays

Closing date for applications is 6pm, Friday the 3rd of May.

'On Windsor Street, just south of the city centre, two artists set up a little corner of sustainable paradise: gardens growing fresh food, a café that cooks delicious vegetarian & vegan dishes, and an ingredients-based shop that won the BBC’s Food and Farming Award for Best Shop, all housed in one of Liverpool’s most sustainable new buildings.

The Squash café & shop which opened in 2018, is part of Squash Liverpool C.I.C, founded in 2007 by Liverpool artists Becky Vipond and Clare Owens. Together they created a community space with strong values, great seasonal food, and an abundant participatory, nature-based art programme. Come by for a great food and a warm welcome.'

Join us tomorrow for a panel discussion exploring creative approaches to place building and space making. Meet the Artist: Squash and RESOLVE Collective, Thursday 7th March 2024, 6.30-8pm

How can systems of resource sharing and collective ways of working help to build more sustainable creative communities?

Join Becky Vipond from Squash and Nina Jang and Akil Scafe-Smith from RESOLVE Collective @resolvecollective for an exciting panel discussion @tateliverpool @ribanorthwest

They will discuss the ideas, experience and learning of their two creative organisations in relation to making work that is centred around people and place, promoting environmental sustainability and ideas around knowledge and resource sharing.

The artists will discuss RESOLVE’s current exhibition You Get a Car (Everybody Gets a Car) and how they are collaborating as part of this project.

This event includes tea, coffee and delicious plant-based food provided by Squash (included in your ticket and available on a first come, first served basis).

RESOLVE Collective is an interdisciplinary design collective that combines architecture, engineering, technology and art to address social challenges.

Squash is a not for profit community organisation rooted and home-grown on Windsor Street, Liverpool 8 since 2010. They work alongside local residents, embracing art, creativity and food as essential tools to improve health and well-being. Their aim is to activate and support people-powered community transformation and change.
