SUMMER SOLSTICE
GATHERING FOR PEACE
SATURDAY 21ST JUNE
In the dark times
Will there also be singing?
Yes, there will be singing.
About the dark times.
– Bertolt Brecht
In these dark times, the summer solstice comes around again, the day of most light. This solstice, we will be shining light on all who are oppressed and struggling, at home and afar. We invite you to join in, in the park and on the street, to gather for peace. Together, we’ll make a space for contemplation, conversation, comfort, warmth by the fire, drawing, planting and gentle moving. Bring your songs, your stories, your sadness, your dance, your music, your hopes and your solidarity to share.
We will be honouring those living and dying through genocide, famine & conflict including people in Congo, Myanamar, Palestine, Sudan, Ukraine and Yemen. We will be collecting for Habibti Liverpool a local charity who supports Al-Sabeen children’s hospital in Yemen and for All our Relations who support displaced families in Gaza.
A group of Squash travellers will be journeying along Windsor Street from solstice dawn, with seeds, plants, fire and messages of solidarity to share.
6AM – 8AM, IN PRINCES PARK, UNDER THE BIG OAK NEAR WOODHENGE, BELVEDERE RD GATE
Come gather with your community around the fire early on Summer Solstice morn:
- sing in the solstice dawn with Clare, Tab & Jennifer
- immerse in gentle healing sounds & music with Cath & Amanda
